We’re thrilled to share that the young trees in Upper Lighthorne’s community orchard are thriving! Pears, apples, and even a few early cherries are beginning to show—thanks to the hard work of our brilliant volunteers and neighbours.
That said, they still need a little extra TLC during this hot weather, so if you're nearby and have a spare watering can (or superhero-level hose skills), we’d love the help.
Sadly, a few trees have been deliberately damaged—branches snapped and stripped—which is heartbreaking after all the community effort that’s gone into caring for them.
It goes without saying: this space belongs to everyone, and we all deserve a little shade and sweetness.
Let’s look after it, not tear it down. Otherwise, I may have to cancel that cider stills order we definitely didn’t place… 🍏🥴
Thanks, as always, for being the wonderful community that you are.
